OBSTETRICIAN & GYNAECOLOGIST
Dr Cathryn Chan Weng Buen completed her basic medical training at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She was subsequently admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) in the United Kingdom. Following that, she underwent Advanced Sub-speciality training for 3 years, including being trained in the area of endoscopic surgery. She also attended a variety of courses to continuously improve her clinical skills in the area of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Dr Cathryn Chan has a keen interest in infertility and reproductive medicine. As such, she is an accredited IVF clinician with the Centre of Assisted Reproduction (CARE) and Parkway Fertility Centre, backed by a credible success rate in her performed fertility procedures. In fact, back in 2000, Dr Chan performed the first successful IVF case that utilised frozen testicular sperm and frozen oocyte that resulted in pregnancy.
Dr Cathryn Chan has held positions such as Member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecology Society of Singapore, Member of the Gleneagles Medical Advisory Board (O&G Sub-section), and Member of the Gleneagles Tissue Committee. In addition, she is an accredited colposcopist.
As a high achiever, Dr Chan was awarded the ASEAN Scholarship, followed by the Public Service Commission Local Merit Scholarship during her undergraduate studies as well as the Young Investigator Award during the Singapore General Hospital Annual Scientific Meeting, when she was a practicing clinician.
Dr Chan commenced her private practice in 1995, and has since made her expert medical services available to the local and expatriate community. Dr Chan is an excellent communicator as she is proficient in many languages including English, Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese, as well as Bahasa Indonesia.
